The State of Delaware Court System

The State of Delaware court system has courts in all three counties. The Kent County Courthouse is located on a 5.3-acre site in the City of Dover, bordered by Federal and Water Streets and The Green. Occupants of the building include the Superior CourtCourt of Common Pleas, Justice of the Peace Court 16, Register in Chancery, Kent County Prothonotary, Law Library, Jury, and Capitol Police. The Attorney General and Public Defender also have satellite offices in the Courthouse.

The Kent County Levy Court

Apart from the Federal and State Court system, the Kent County Levy Court is the county government for Kent County, Delaware. The Levy Court oversees daily governmental operations in the county including public safety, parks & recreation, library services, deeds services, wills & estates, building permits, property complaints, marriage licenses, property and sewer tax collection, and the Sheriff's Office.
